HOW TRACKING WORKS
OCEARCH conducts scientific research in collaboration with institutions around the world! The SPOT tags used in the app provide near real-time tracking data for an average of five years. Whenever an animal’s tag breaks the surface of the water, it signals a satellite, creating a ‘ping’ that allows you to see its location on the tracker.
The data collected is invaluable to the scientific community and helps with:
